About Dr Matt Stewart

Dr. Matt Stewart is a Pinellas County native who graduated from Largo High School in 1998. He comes from a family dedicated to public service, including a mother who served as a teacher for over 40-years in Pinellas County Schools, a father who was a police officer, and a sister who is a firefighter. He continues that family tradition of giving back. 

Matt received a Ph.D. in Education: Curriculum & Instruction from the College of Education at USF, M.A. in Religious Studies (USF), M.A. in Theology (SVdP), and B.A. in Philosophy (SJV). Additionally, he holds national certification in Human Resources.

Currently, he is a Human Resources Manager for Hillsborough County Government. He has served in leadership roles for both Talent Management and Talent Acquisition. He brings experience in leading teams, policy, budget, organizational development, and human resource management.

He has worked in elementary, high school, and college settings. Most recently, he has served as Adjunct Faculty for St. Petersburg College, in the College of Policy, Ethics, and Legal Studies. 

Matt has previously worked for St. Petersburg College, Pinellas County Government, Eckerd Youth Alternatives (South Ward Elementary and James B Sanderlin Elementary), Clearwater Central Catholic, and other non-profits and educational organizations. 

Matt and his family live in St. Petersburg, where they are foster parents with Eckerd Connects, attend St. Peter’s Episcopal Cathedral, members of the Shore Acres PTA, and Mystic Lake Neighborhood Association.
